Project Description

TRC worked with the Bunuba people in the Kimberley to determine future tourism opportunities they wished to progress on their country which lies near the Fitzroy River and includes several protected areas and Aboriginal-owned pastoral stations.

The project included consultation on country; looking at other tourism businesses as examples with Bunuba people to assist them in visualising tourism businesses; identifying the opportunities they wished to pursue; and working with them to develop a tourism plan and business cases.

The project also looked at ways Bunuba could manage national parks lands as part of their business activities. Business cases were developed for Aboriginal tourism proposals at the major visitor sites of Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek.
