Project Description

TRC conducted an assessment of the feasibility of a 150 km walking, cycling and paddling trail along the Wimmera River between Little Desert National Park and Wyperfeld National Park in north-west Victoria. The project involved engagement with government land and water management agencies, Indigenous organisations and the tourism industry. The assessment included an analysis of natural and cultural heritage features, market demand, trail trends and potential competitors.

A trail concept and market positioning were recommended and a preliminary marketing approach was outlined. The main features, development needs and cost estimates for each section of the trail were assessed. The benefits to the region were analysed through estimates of future visitor use and economic impact on the region. TRC also developed a Master Plan for a section of the trail from the town of Dimboola to Lake Hindmarsh.
