Project Description

The Parks and Wildlife Division of the Department of Tourism and Culture contracted TRC to develop a concept for an adventure, nature-based cycling experience in the backcountry of Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park, accessible within one or two hours of Alice Springs.

The proposed Concept continues implementation of the 2016 Master Plan for Mountain Biking in the NT, which aims to establish Alice Springs as a leading world-class mountain biking hub and to develop distinctive, world-class adventure rides which are remote but accessible experiences showcasing the NT’s iconic landscapes (including the West MacDonnell Ranges area).

TRC identified target markets, defined trail alignment, related infrastructure and products and services. Requirements were set out and high-level cost estimates prepared for trail/experience development, management and potential return of investment and a Prospectus for the Red Centre Adventure Ride was delivered.
