TRC recently completed two feasibility studies for Macedon Ranges Council for shared trail experiences. The first feasibility study explored and made recommendations for the best options for shared use trails between Daylesford (Tylden) to Woodend, Kyneton and Hanging Rock trail and the second study looked at the best options for shared use trails between Woodend and Macedon and through to New Gisborne and Riddells Creek. The proposed trails will link to events, local food and produce and can be undertaken as a day trail or as an overnight riding experiences staying at accommodation within the Macedon Ranges towns. The proposed trails will contribute strongly to community spirit and wellbeing by being fun, enjoyable and safe and well used by visitors and locals of all ages and popular with children. The experiences are designed to encourage shared, low volume cycling, walking and running across a range of abilities and suitable for all bike types. “Great trail experiences and encouraging a wide range of people to connect through these trails was a priority for the studies” says TRC Trails Specialist Chris Halstead. Macedon Council endorsed both studies in August 2019 and will begin advocacy and funding efforts for the staged implementation and development of the trails.
