The bush fires have created widespread devastation across many parts of Australia with more than 6 million hectares burnt. Many of the TRC team has had their homes threatened or watched as family and friends have lost theirs. It has been particularly heart breaking to watch the fires blaze through Kangaroo Island, a destination TRC consultants have worked extensively with over the years.

Kangaroo Island is well known for its thriving koala population, however over 150,000 hectares has been burnt resulting in a substantial number of wildlife killed and their habitats destroyed.

TRC has donated to the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park which will go towards helping the Park with veterinary costs, koala milk and supplements, extra holding/rehabilitation enclosures, as well as setting up a building to hold supplies to treat injured animals.

The survival of wildlife on Kangaroo Island will depend on an intensive recovery effort and we encourage any of our friends and colleagues get behind the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to help save our aussie animals. You can donate here via their Go Fund Me page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-save-kangaroo-islands-koalas-and-wildlife

Our hearts go out to all who have been affected and we would like to express a huge thank you to all the emergency services and volunteers for their continuing and tireless efforts.
